Meet Dwayne Reece
Dwayne Reece is the newest member of the Linda Craft Team and he finished the Boston Marathon on April 20th, 2015. Every “marathon” is 26.2 miles and qualifying for this particular event begins in September of the previous year. It’s a huge commitment!
Dwayne’s first Boston Marathon was in 2008 and since then he has completed five Bostons. This was his fifth Boston run and his 13th total marathon. He is always asked if he was there in 2013 with the bombings, but he was not participating that year. In addition to the full marathons, he has also completed 20 half marathons and some trail races. He used this year’s Boston as a fund raiser for a friend who had a broken leg and helped to support his loss of income while healing.
Dwayne started running at age 13 during his love for football. He was on the team but small compared to the others; he realized during practice that he would dominate running laps and that’s where his love for running started. He ran cross country in high school and college. To date, he’s logged 25,000 miles. To put this in perspective, 26,000 miles equals a full journey around the equator and he will probably hit that goal within the year!
When he’s running he does not listen to music but rather thinks about anything & everything. It’s a time of creativity, problem solving, solution seeking, and prayer for Dwayne. He doesn’t have a date set for the next marathon yet, but he thinks it’ll be in the fall of 2015. Welcome Dwayne to the team!
