Being a Tourist … In Durham

It’s easy to be a tourist and have adventures in unfamiliar places – the beach, other states, out of the country.

It’s also easy to forget to visit all the cool and interesting things in your back yard.

The Triangle area including Raleigh, Durham, Cary, and Chapel Hill has a variety of events that will fit anyone.

Let’s see what it’s like to be a tourist in Durham.

Durham: A Triangle Tourist’s Gem

A great example of a treasure in our backyard is the American Tobacco District in Durham. It’s located right next to the Durham Bulls baseball field. If you haven’t made it to a game, you’re missing out on a great experience!

In addition to the Bulls, there are free live music shows through the UNC Back Porch Series held under the Lucky Strike tower on a regular basis through the summer.

In addition, DPAC is a leading venue in the South and brings some of the best and brightest talent to the Triangle. There’s not a bad seat in the house and the acoustics are amazing!

It’s Easy to Get Around Town

Sometimes the logistics of getting around can be a deterrent especially if you have young children with you, but parking is easy in the parking deck and makes it easy to access the Bulls, any restaurant in the area, DPAC, or the free concerts in the summer.

Take Time to Explore the Triangle

There’s always a new restaurant, show, sporting opportunity, street fair, community event, or family friendly venue to plug into. Take some time to be a tourist in the Triangle!
