More than a month after it first put out its appeal for blood donors in July, our local American Red Cross has seen some improvement in the blood supply, but there is still an urgent need. With the lifespan of blood cells as little as 5 days for platelets and 42 days for red cells, they depend on healthy members of our community to voluntarily give blood each and every day.
A special American Red Cross Blood Drive to help boost local blood supplies will be held on Monday, September 10th. The blood drive will be held at all three Triangle-area blood donation centers from 2:30 pm to 7:30 pm. As a Linda Craft blood donor, you will receive a gift bag filled with a bottle of water and a variety of items and discount coupons from local merchants.
The three area locations for blood donation are the Raleigh Blood Center at 100 North Peartree Lane in Raleigh, the North Raleigh Blood Center at 8301 Bandford Way in Raleigh, and the Cary Blood Center at 3700 Regency Parkway, Suite 150 in Cary. Eligible donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in general good health. Donors of all blood types are welcome.
