So, your rental application has been approved, you have moved in, and are finally getting your boxes unpacked but then the thought hits you -Will my landlord walk in unannounced while I am at work or school? I am not ready for an inspection just yet!
Take a breath, it is going to be ok. The State of North Carolina has a few guidelines that a landlord should follow.
1. A right of entry should be clearly defined in a written lease. The lease should list that a Landlord has the right to enter the home to inspect it, show it to prospective tenants, and gain entry to make repairs.
1. The Landlord must give proper notice before entering into your home.
2. Landlords must only come during a reasonable time.
3. If for some reason your lease does not state that the landlord can enter, then they cannot enter during the term of your lease. For more information please feel free to read through the Questions and Answers on Renting Residential Real Estate information guide provided by the North Carolina Real Estate Commission.
